The Virginia Association of Fairs would like to present it's
2010 Miss Virginia Association of Fairs

Rebecca Gogue
Miss Virginia Association of Fairs 2010

At a young age Rebecca Gogue moved to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, with her family from Agana, Guam. Rebecca attended elementary school at Valley Baptist Christian School in Edinburg and went to North Fork Middle School in Quicksburg. She graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School also in Quicksburg in 2008 with an Advanced Studies diploma.

As an outstanding member of her community and schools, Rebecca was a member of her church and youth group, was involved with a number of clubs and activities, including the National Honor Society and the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program, and receiving letters as a Varsity athlete. Her academic achievements led her to being awarded a number of scholastic awards and scholarships. To further her education, she was awarded the Bridgebuilder Scholarship, the Mount Jackson Moose Lodge scholarship, and received a university grant from James Madison University. Rebecca graduated with Magnum Cum Laude, earning her a spot in the top ten of her graduating class and the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. Rebecca’s many achievements led her to James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, where she is currently a Sophomore working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services and a minor in Substance Abuse Intervention and Prevention, all while working to fulfill the pre-requisites to become a licensed Pharmacist.

Rebecca’s pageant background was one of those “last minute decisions”. At the age of six, she decided to enter the Shenandoah County Fair pageant at last minute; her first pageant led her to her first title, Little Miss Shenandoah County Fair. About one year later, she entered another local pageant and took home the title. After this win, Rebecca decided to step away from pageantry; as they say, all good things come to those who wait. In August 2009, Rebecca won the title of Miss Shenandoah County Fair 2009 and in January 2010, won the Miss Virginia Association of Fairs title.

As being a representative of the state of Virginia and all of its fairs and festivals, Rebecca will travel the Commonwealth to promote her newly founded program, Smart Teens, Smart Choices. Rebecca founded this program after winning her local fair title to inform people about the dangers of the unknown epidemic spreading across the nation: teen prescription drug abuse. With warm welcomes from local high schools and pharmacies, she has been working on informing parents and teenagers throughout the Commonwealth about the epidemic.

When she is not in class or promoting her platform, Rebecca is either working as a Pharmacy Technician at CVS or enjoying time with her friends and family; as one of seven children, life is never boring for the busy fair queen. Rebecca loves to embrace the outdoor beauty that the Shenandoah Valley offers from the seat of a Harley Davidson motorcycle with her boyfriend, Brandon. And when she has the time to relax at home, she enjoys the company that her smallest friend brings her: Bandit, her Boxer puppy.
